Etnik - Writer and painter from Pisa - Italy
Etnik is a writer and painter from Italy, that start in the early '90 to travel and paint as much as possible in all the country, trying always to create something new and bigger for the street art world. My production on wall is focus on painting lettering mixed to a concept-background,so often i paint with a lot of other people to create big elaborated walls.
In all these years the first passion for graffiti became a serius job,so today i work with spraycans doing decoration and artistic collaborations.
In collaboration with institutions i paint in a lot of big pubblic project as the station of Nuovo Salario in Rome,Valdo Fusi square in Turinand the university hall in Pisa.
My production goes from canvases, sculptures, wear and a toy production visible on the web site www.etnikproduction.com
“… in his paintings Diego SLY Colussi never imposes a meaning of the world; he rather tries to charm it, rooting our imagination. The magic he makes becomes a fantastic and creative way of speaking. A dreaming heart beats and fluctuates in Diego’s chromatic jungle as in his works of writer. The dream power lives in his pictures together with phisycal elements; this artist is a fancy maker; he turns on a light inside us. He comes out and hazards to discover for our incredulous eyes his archaic and secret landscapes…” by Francesca Brandes art critic
“I don’t think real world is so interesting, Maybe I want to transponse the unreal into my pictures No I want it I want to unify and break up the unreal world I want to let you see through it and brush by it This belongs to me and belongs to the whole.”
I started writing my name in 1997 in my city, Salerno. My crews are Cafardo Energizer, a big family in the street, ZSE and BNS crews, the only one with KNF and UHT crews that pushed writing in my city and all over the world.
I made normal wild-style for several years, but at the same time I tried to make characters, specially photorealistic.
Since 2002 I started to do something different for me, like stupid-style and strange design in the fill-in of letters, using waving outlines, specially in trains with my partner-in-crime Thomas.
My 2008 style is all about to destroying the technique…I think that it’s the main reason killing the syles. I don’t give a fuck to cut all my outlines, to do the cleanest line or to make a wonderful fadings, I can do it but I paint with cheap paint and I like to fuck the graffiti-business that is killing our creativity. I painted some trains since 2001, but actually I don’t have panel-fever, I sometimes paint on trains, but I don’t like to lick asses for a panel, I prefer to know people like a friends, and after like a writers.
Now I use all kinds of spray paint and paint for my work, that looks like a old, dirty and bad lettering. Big part of this interview’s readers is thinking that my work it’s not COOL like the super-bited styles now are rocking the Italian scene, but I think that there is a little part of the scene, like you, that loves to be original and evolve personal style and likes who try to do something different (NOT NEW OR 100% ORIGINAL) because I think that I need more than a life to create something 100% personal.
Sometimes I use the undercover paint on the wall, I remake and add my design elements, and after I do my letters. Other times I simply free my mind and my hand, looking what is coming out; sometimes what you can see in my works is a big composition of images that enter in my mind, I put all the elements in a bottle, I shake it and paint. Other times I sketch all the composition, I don’t really belive that there is a format for the art, it’s our free space, we can do all we want about style, the topic, technique and tools…
I do beautiful sunrises and full-palm beach for pizza-shop and insides, in the street
Graffiti art from Barcellona Spain, the style of Uritmetica
I don't remember when was the first time I was having a walk around, and I detest the structure of the reality, cause my self wasn't represented on. I begin to imagine a reality with my direct participation, maybe fruit of the individualism at this age maybe fruit of the readings from philosophy and religious literature Dostoievsky (the last course at university), Saint Silouan Athonita, or Losev. I only pretend to remove the soul with harmonic vibration, picturelly, without depart from the mimesis of the reality cause any experience from the idea, since Platon, is demoniacal. I wanna give an experience without name, indeterminated feelings maybe, and trying to give a diferenciated emotion, with another rythm or compas.
Uritmetica (Uri Martinez) is a component from Los Martinez crew: the group wich have, not in the rapper scene, barcelona's flow. The crew with people from the neighbourhood founded by Uri and Kenor with Zosen, Kafre, Pez, Ovni, Gola, Tom 14, Maze, Sensible, Gato. losmartinezcrew@hotmail.com Visit Uritmetica

Style1 has began started painting with spray colors around 1997, prompted for his interest in hip-hop culture. Andrea aka Style1 is his own unique name used for elaborating his style and lettering since the begining.
After a period of intense study and observations to the differences between writing and Aerosol art, he started to create his own personal style based on tree dimensional shapes.
In his own research the year 1999 was really important. At that time he achieved a new style based on intersections, fragmentations and warping of floating stripes and shapes in the 3D space.
Since 1999 colors and shapes has radically changed, but in his current artwork he keeps the original thinking about 3D design as 1999.
In the recently years Style1 has participated in different art happening around Italy and Europe. Pictures of his artwork have been published on different magazines and books.
Style1 is also webmaster of Aerosol art.it, important Italian website which is main aim its selecting and promoting the best artists for Aerosol art around Italy.

The Video below is a documentation of 10 years of Style1 activity. In this video you can appreciate the evolution of his 3D style.
